SOUTHWESTERN AREA WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT BOARD WORKFORCE INVESTMENT ACT (WIA) YOUTH

CONTINUOUS SERVICE

Applicability:

 

Southwestern Area Workforce Development Board (SAWDB) providers of Workforce Investment Act (WIA) youth and adult training and employment services.

 

Purpose

 To provide a more stable environment for Youth and Adult Provider contracts, to provide a high level of continuous service for multiple years.

 

Background

The Workforce Investment Act Chapter 4 and the Federal Register Part 664 states that the WIA youth and adult program will provide to eligible youth and adults, effective and comprehensive activities, including a variety of options for improving educational and skill competencies which shall include but not be limited to: mentoring, training, supportive services, incentives for recognition and achievement, leadership, development, decision making, citizenship and community services.

 

 

Action

To allow multi-year awards (at the discretion of the SAWDB) for Youth and Adult Provider contracts that are in good standing (i.e., no audit findings, in compliance, meeting performance standards) without requiring yearly RFP’s.
