Socorro has also raised the bar in building up the workforce, with many members of the CEO and SAWDB coming from this growing community. Gordy Hicks from Hicks Body Shop represents Mayor Ravi Bhasker on the CEO board, along with Commission Chair Laurel Armijo and the Honorable James Wolfe, Mayor of Magdalena. Marlene Herrera from the Alamo Navajo School Board serves as Vice-Chair of the Youth Council. She also rubs shoulders with other members of the community, working on the SAWDB with Art Armijo from Paradise Travel, EB Armijo, Rodolfo “Rudy” Correa from NM Tech, Jean Fraissinet from Rental Real Estate, Alonzo Gonzales from Priority Realtors, Area Director for the NM Department of Labor Dolores Haley, Leo Rosas from Sofia’s Restaurant and Anton Salome from Socorro Consolidated Schools.
